Hong Kong 12-Hour Art Day November 24, 2012 10:00am - 10:00pm
The 4th Annual 12 Hour Art Day took place on Saturday, 24 November 2012. . This was a meaningful occasion which students had complete freedom to create self-directed art works for 12 hours.
The students started by sketching out their ideas and then showing them to us. We gave them some brief advice and then they were off. With recycling in mind, the art department brought many old canvasses for the students to revamp. These the students painted white, and while they were drying, many of them painted a collaborative project that will be shown in the gallery later in the year. A wide variety of work was produced. Landscapes with multi-colored trees, spray paint effects, mosaics, comics, and abstract bursts of color were among many styles used.
This year we had more students involved than any of the previous years and all of them were very focused on developing their own creative ideas. We even had a few teachers trying their hands at oil painting and acrylic works. Students also got to attend a photography workshop that was run by photographer Joel Odesser. We had a blast and the hours just flew by! Can’t wait for next year!
